Personal profile

2008

I’m a recently repatriated Scot, currently living in St Andrews with my long-term girlfriend and partner, Heike Wischmann. After finishing an undergraduate degree at the University of York, where I studied philosophy as a ‘mature student’, I am now back North of the border and studying for my Masters degree at the University of St. Andrews before hopefully going on to do a Ph.D. in the subject.

My other interests include music (I enjoy playing guitar and keyboards, singing and recording songs in my home studio), computing (I started programming computer games when I was 13 before moving into productivity, multimedia and web based software), and photography. I am a lover of ideas, wisdom and all things creative—although whether the current crop of philosophical literature can properly be called creative is something of a moot point!

When I’m not busy philosophising or sat in front of my computer—an Apple iMac, in case you were wondering—I also enjoy reading, walking, watching films, taking photos, and drinking large quantities of tea, although these days primarily of the decaffeinated variety, which goes some way towards explaining why I always seem to be yawning!
